Introducing VACScore: Evidence-Based Medical Device Scoring
Hospitals evaluate thousands of medical devices every year, yet the decision-making process remains surprisingly opaque. Procurement committees juggle FDA databases, clinical literature, recall histories, and vendor claims — often with no standardized framework for weighing the evidence. VACScore changes that.
What is VACScore?
VACScore is an independent evidence scoring platform that collects publicly available regulatory and clinical data, organizes it into a structured knowledge graph, and evaluates it through a consensus-based AI scoring panel. The result is a composite score between 350 and 850 — a single, transparent number that reflects the breadth and quality of evidence behind a medical device.
Six Domains, One Score
Every device is evaluated across six distinct domains: Clinical Evidence, Safety Profile, Regulatory Standing, Economic Value, Operational Fit, and Governance & Transparency. Each domain captures a different dimension of device quality, and each is scored independently before contributing to the composite. This multi-domain approach ensures that a strong regulatory record does not mask a thin clinical evidence base, or vice versa.
Why Consensus-Based Scoring?
Traditional scoring systems rely on a single algorithm or formula. VACScore takes a fundamentally different approach: multiple independent AI evaluators analyze the same evidence set and must converge on a score through a structured consensus protocol. An auditor agent verifies consistency and flags divergence. This architecture reduces single-point bias and produces scores that are more robust, more explainable, and more trustworthy.
Built for Procurement Teams
VACScore is not a medical device and is not clinical decision support. It is a procurement intelligence tool built for supply chain leaders, value analysis committees, and clinical engineering teams who need a defensible, evidence-driven basis for device selection. Every score is traceable back to its source evidence, and every scoring decision is auditable.
We are excited to bring transparency and rigor to medical device evaluation. Stay tuned for deep dives into our methodology, domain definitions, and the evidence sources that power VACScore.
